The Global Union IUF and IRENE have built up an international network “RESPECT AND RIGHTS FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS’ a project for which the IUF takes the responsibility and which is based on the recommendations of the international conference ‘Protection for Domestic Workers’. A decission very much welcomed by the organisations present at conference.

PROTECTION FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS
International conference organised by a coalition of organisations, supported by the ITUC, held on 8-10 November 2006, at the headquarters of the FNV trade union federation, Amsterdam.
The outcome is a start of an international network to campaign of workers' rights and legal protection for domestic workers world-wide.

The ETUC (European Trade Union Confederation) in cooperation and IRENE and PICUM (Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants, Brussels), organises an international seminar to examine organizing and policy-making initiatives regarding a specific part of the (informal) economy: the provision of domestic services.
